Marriage is challenging; sustaining a marriage while raising a special needs child(ren) is especially challenging. The divorce rate among those with a special needs child is estimated to be as high as 70-80%. With 1 in 6 children diagnosed with some form of disability/special needs diagnosis, the number of families impacted is staggering. Furthermore, barely 10% of families caring for a child with disability attend church. Understanding this underserved and unreached population will help the church not only welcome these families but also include them, encouraging their spiritual growth and the sustainability of their marriages and families.
